Torres and Villa lead Spain attack for Euro 2008 Group D match against Russia

Spain coach Luis Aragones paired Fernando Torres and David Villa to lead the attack for the team's European Championship opener against Russia on Tuesday.
Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas was edged out in favor of Xavi Hernandez, who will prompt Spain's forwards, with Villa and Andres Iniesta on the wings and Brazilian-born Marcos Senna in the midfield holding position.
Russia coach Guus Hiddink was forced to improvise for the Group D match due to the absence of two key players through injury and suspension.
He replaced the injured Pavel Pogrebnyak with Roman Pavlyuchenko in attack, while Igor Semshov took over suspended star Andrei Arshavin's attacking midfield role. As expected, Hiddink gave veteran midfielder Sergei Semak the captain's armband.
