Exec.: Ford won't ignore vehicles like F-150, even though they won't sell like they once did

A top Ford Motor Co. executive says full-size vehicles like the F-150 pickup are not going to sell like they have in the past, but the automaker won't shift its focus away from what has been a top-seller for decades.
Ford President of the Americas Mark Fields spoke Monday at the unveiling of the new Lincoln MKS luxury sedan at a suburban Detroit dealership. He says it is important to avoid slapping too many discounts on F-150s for the sake of reducing inventories, and Ford's goal is to be "be competitive but not excessive."
Fields says the automaker is working to efficiently match production to customer demand.
The MKS is being unveiled at more than 300 Lincoln and Lincoln-Mercury dealerships nationwide and is expected to reach showrooms in July.
