Far EasTone performance continues to shine in 2007

Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) held its 2008 General Shareholders' Meeting at the Taipei Hero House recently. During the meeting, shareholders approved the 2007 financial statements and a dividend of NT$3.1 cash per share. The 2007 financial performance has been reported and 2008 operation strategy disclosed.

FET obtained the WiMAX at the lowest bidding price; it is the only telecom operator, among the top three in the country, to have been chosen for the WiMAX license. Additionally, FET's non-voice service revenue in 2007 represented 39% of total non-voice market revenue share.
FET first key product introduced to the home market is FET Big Broadband. It integrates mobile, fixed line, and wireless services through the IMS platform. The FET GPS Info Go and FET G5 offer more services than regular navigators which occupies a remarkable presence within transportation spaces, including functions such as mobile phone, mobile television, and multimedia entertainment. FET exclusively offers ogo, which has been introduced in Asia, a widely popular communication device in Europe and North America, which offers Taiwan consumers the use of mobile phone, the ability to receive hotmail and chat on MSN anytime.
In the first half of last year, FET successfully obtained a WiMAX license; and in the second half of 2007, it acquired 24.51% of shares of Sparq via share swap with SingTel, to prepare itself for integration of broadband and mobile communications. In this March, New Century InfoComm Tech and Digital United were integrated with FET to officially form Far Eastern Group Telecom Sector. FEG Telecom Sector is expected to maximize synergy, effectively increase operating revenue, and succeed in the intensively competitive telecommunications market.

Despite NCC's second-year 4.88% tariff cut, and intensive market competition, as a leading wireless service provider, the FEG Telecom Sector will not only increase revenues in the voice market, but also being confident to secure leadership in the non-voice segment. With the establishment of the FEG Telecom Sector, by integrating mobile communications networks of 2G, 3G, HSPA, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX, that constructs a convenient, seamless environment for high-quality communications anytime and anywhere. This will provide a brand new experience of superior communications for individual, home, and enterprise subscribers. Based on the restructuring of sales force and cost management that will maximize synergy and provide mobile communications, broadband, media, and international services that will further increase operating revenue and financial results.
