New Zealand, Samoa to meet in one-off test

New Zealand and Samoa will meet in a one-off rugby test on Sept. 3, bridging a gap in the All Blacks' Tri-Nations schedule.
The test, confirmed by the New Zealand Rugby Union on Monday, will be the first played in the North Island city of New Plymouth.
"The All Blacks need an extra test as there is a four-week break between their Tri-Nations game against South Africa in Cape Town (on Saturday, Aug. 17) and their last game of the tournament against Australia in Brisbane on Saturday, Sept. 13," NZRU chief executive Steve Tew said.
New Zealand had hoped to schedule a test against Argentina as part of an initiative which would have seen the Pumas play Australia, New Zealand and South Africa on Tri-Nations bye weeks.
"However, problems with arranging the release of Argentina's top players meant this was not going to be feasible so we are thankful that Manu Samoa has agreed to play the All Blacks," Tew said.
