The win gave Cruzeiro 13 points in the Brazilian league standings.
On Saturday, Marcinho scored a hat trick to lead Flamengo to a 5-0 rout of Figueirense.
Flamengo also has 13 points, but passes Cruzeiro on goal differentials.
In other Sunday matches Gremio beat Fluminense 2-1 at home in Porto Alegre, with the Colombian striker Perea scoring both goals.
