Centrists win Tyrol elections but lose support

The centrist People's Party has again emerged strongest in elections in Tyrol province. But it has lost noticeably in support from the last voting five years ago, collecting only 40 percent of ballots cast, compared to 49.9 percent back then.
A renegade grouping led by a former People's Party member has come in second, garnering 19 percent. The rightist Freedom Party is third at 12.7 percent, up from the 8 percent it collected in the last elections.
The biggest losers in Sunday's voting were the Socialists, who form the federal government coalition with the People's Party. They slipped from 25.8 percent to 15.6 percent of the vote.
