Malaga and Sporting Gijon set to return to Spanish first division

Malaga and Sporting Gijon are favorites to win promotion to the Spanish first division after Sunday's penultimate round of second-division games.
Malaga drew 0-0 at relegated Granada 74, while Gijon also stayed hopeful of accompanying champion Numancia despite a 1-0 defeat at Castellon. Fourth-place Real Sociedad suffered a major blow to its hopes of returning to the top flight after a year's absence when it was defeated 3-2 at lowly Alaves.
Numancia, which won promotion on May 18, leads with 76 points. Malaga and Sporting have 69, with Malaga ahead on head-to-head results. Sociedad follows with 67.
In next Sunday's final round, Malaga takes on No. 10 Tenerife, while Sporting hosts No. 12 Eibar and Socidedad plays No. 15 Cordoba.
Malaga last played in the first division two years ago, while Sporting has not been in the top flight since 1998.
