Podolski starts in left midfield for Germany against Poland

Lukas Podolski got to start in left midfield for Germany in Sunday's match against Poland at the European Championship.
The Polish-born Podolski is usually a striker but coach Joachim Loew decided to pick him over Bastian Schweinsteiger, who remained on the bench.
Miroslav Klose, another Polish-born forward, started the match with Mario Gomez as partner in attack.
Wojciech Lobodzinski replaces the injured Jakub Blaszczykowski, who quit the Polish camp after aggravating a hamstring injury, on the right side of the Polish midfield.
Euzebiusz Smolarek, who led Poland with nine goals in qualifying, is paired in the attack with Maciej Zurawski.
