Casey Stoner takes pole position for Catalunya GP

Casey Stoner won pole position at the Catalunya Moto GP on Saturday.
The defending world champion finished in 1 minute, 41.186 seconds on his Ducati at the 4.727-kilometer (2.94-mile) Circuit de Catalunya track.
Honda rider Dani Pedrosa took second place, 0.083 seconds behind the Australian, with Honda's Nicky Hayden of the United States third, 0.251 behind.
Valentino Rossi will start ninth on the grid after coming in 1.241 seconds behind on his Yamaha.
Jorge Lorenzo is to remain under observation in the Dexeus hospital in Barcelona after a fall in free practice Friday and will not start the race, the Circuit de Catalunya said on its Web site.
Three Spanish Aprilia riders took the first three grid positions in the 250cc class. Alvaro Bautista timed 1 minute, 45.636 for pole position, Alex Debon was 0.131 behind and Hector Barbera third, 0.426 seconds back.
