Germany coach writes open letter to fans ahead of Euro 2008, and says Greece is the model

Germany coach Joachim Loew has written an open letter to his team's fans ahead of its opening European Championship game against Poland, pointing to defending champion Greece as inspiration.
"Our ambition and optimism are great. From defending champion Greece we can learn: if every one of us works for the team and if we come out as a harmonious unit, then the European title does not have to remain a dream," Loew said in the letter that was published Saturday by the German football federation.
Germany kicks off its campaign on Sunday in Klagenfurt. Poland has never beaten Germany.
Loew appealed for the kind of enthusiastic support that carried the team to a third-place finish at the World Cup two years ago at home.
Greece surprisingly won the 2004 European title under a German coach, Otto Rehhagel.
