AC Milan extends Maldini's contract for another season

Captain Paolo Maldini is staying with AC Milan for another season.
The 39-year-old's contract was extended through June 2009, the Serie A club said on its Web site on Friday.
Milan did not disclose details of the contract.
Maldini repeatedly said he would retire after the 2007-08 season, but he recently announced he was ready for another season.
"It wasn't too difficult to find a deal," Maldini said in a statement on the Web site. "I love playing soccer and I think I can still do it well."
Maldini said he would find "additional motivation" in helping Milan try to win the Serie A next year and a spot in the Champions League. The club finished fifth last season, not high enough to qualify for Europe's top club football competition.
