Jorge Lorenzo injured in fall during practice for Barcelona MotoGP

Jorge Lorenzo injured his right hand and had temporary memory loss after a fall during the second free practice session for the Catalunya Grand Prix on Friday and was taken by helicopter to the hospital.
Lorenzo, who is third in this season's MotoGP standings behind Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedroza, lost control of his Yamaha 14 minutes into the session and appeared to briefly lose consciousness following the fall.
He also had severe ankle pain, the Circuit de Catalunya said on its Web site.
The Spanish rider was in obvious pain, holding his right hand, as he was carried by stretcher to the helicopter.
Lorenzo, who fractured bones in his ankles a month ago in Shanghai, was flown to the Dexeus hospital in Barcelona, the circuit said in a statement.
Xavier Mir, the doctor who has treated Lorenzo for several injuries, told reporters that the rider would undergo a brain scan and may not be able to race on Sunday.
Rossi leads the series with 122 points, Pedrosa is second with 110 and Jorge Lorenzo is third with 94.
