Scolari: Ronaldo won't talk about his future until end of Euro 2008

Cristiano Ronaldo will not say where he will play next season until the end of the European Championship, Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said Friday.
Trying to put an end to media speculations, Scolari said the star winger "will not talk (about his future) until after the Euro."
Euro 2008 starts Saturday and runs through to June 29.
"Cristiano will tell you this every time you ask him _ don't waste your questions anymore," Scolari said at a news conference a day before Portugal's opening Euro 2008 match against Turkey in Geneva.
The world's media have been speculating on Ronaldo's future for months, with Real Madrid reportedly willing to pay a world-record transfer fee for the favorite to win FIFA's 2008 World Player of the Year award.
The Manchester United player had said after arriving in Switzerland that he "would like to play for Real Madrid," according to a Brazilian Web site.
Scolari denied reports that he advised the Portuguese star to move to Madrid, and said the attention the subject has been getting will not affect his play.
"If I had any doubt I wouldn't have summoned him and wouldn't have made him one of the captains," Scolari said. "I trust Ronaldo as an athlete and as a person. What he is going through now is normal."
The Brazilian coach, who said Ronaldo is focused only on the European tournament, took the opportunity to praise the winger.
"Ronaldo is the best player in the world right now, I hope he plays for us the same way he has been playing for Manchester."
Scolari also said he will not talk about his own plans for the future until the end of the 2008 Euro. His contract with the Portuguese football federation expires after the competition and he has been linked to offers from top European clubs and national teams.
Ronaldo has not talked to the press since Portugal began its preparations in Switzerland last weekend, and his teammates end up having to address the issue.
"It's tough for me to talk about this," winger Simao Sabrosa said. "Ronaldo needs tranquility, he has an important competition ahead of him and we need him. He has a contract with Manchester and I'm believe he is doing well there."
Ronaldo will not participate in Man United's preseason tour of Africa in July, but only to rest after Euro 2008, the team said.
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said recently it would be "impossible" to sign Ronaldo if United didn't want to sell.
Ronaldo, who scored eight times in Euro qualifying for a third of Portugal's goals, practiced normally Friday in Geneva in the team's last training session before the opener the next day. Portugal was runner-up to Greece at home in 2004.
