Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner undergoes spine operation; expected to be back for Euro 2008

Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner underwent an operation on his spine on Friday and should recover in time for the European Championship.
The surgery at Na Homolce hospital was planned and went without complications, the Czech soccer federation said in a statement Friday.
Bruckner will be moved to Prague's military hospital over the weekend and will stay about 10 days. He is then expected to recuperate at home for a month.
He should be fit for a May 20-26 training camp in southern Austria before the June 7-29 Euro 2008.
The 68-year-old Bruckner had previously announced that he plans to retire after the tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
The Czechs open against Switzerland on June 7 in Basel. They also face Turkey and Portugal in Group A.
