Fred scores 3rd goal in 2 games to give French league leader Lyon 1-0 win over Lille

Fred scored a first-half goal Saturday to give leader Lyon a 1-0 win over Lille in the French league.
Lyon defender Francois Clerc beat an opponent in the 32nd minute down the right flank before passing to Fred, and the Brazilian forward put the ball past goalkeeper Tony Sylva for his third goal in two games.
Striker Karim Benzema almost doubled the lead in the 51st, but shot wide with only Sylva to beat.
Benzema was taken off by coach Alain Perrin after 60 minutes to keep him fresh for Tuesday's Champions League second-leg match at Manchester United.
Lyon has 55 points while Bordeaux has 49, ahead of its home match with Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
Later Saturday, it was: Le Mans vs Strasbourg; Lens vs. Toulouse; Lorient vs. Nancy; Marseille vs. Auxerre; Metz vs. Caen; Monaco vs. Valenciennes and Sochaux vs. Rennes.
Saint-Etienne hosts Nice in Sunday's other game.
