Ronny Ackermann wins Nordic combined overall title after sprint canceled

Ronny Ackermann won the Nordic combined World Cup overall title when Saturday's sprint event was canceled due to high winds.
Ackermann had a 237-point lead over American Bill Demong before the ski jumping portion was canceled. With two events left, and 100 points given for a win, Ackermann can't be overtaken.
The 30-year-old German also won the overall in 2002 and 2003 before Finland's Hannu Manninen won four consecutive titles.
Ackermann placed third Friday in a normal distance event won by Petter Tande of Norway.
Ackermann has 1,100 points. Demong has 863 and Tande, 833.
The last two events are in Holmenkollen, Norway, next week.
