China arrests 2 more people for posting nude Hong Kong celebrity photos online

Two more people have been arrested in China for circulating photos of Hong Kong entertainer Edison Chen and several female partners engaged in sex acts, a state news agency said Saturday.
The two men were sentenced to five days' detention for posting at least 10 photos on the Internet, the Xinhua News Agency said. It identified them only by the surnames Xiao and Wang and said they lived in the southern city of Changshan in Hunan province.
The release of the photos has caused an uproar in Hong Kong. Chen acknowledged last month that he took the photos, but said they were stolen and distributed without his approval.
Chinese authorities earlier detained 10 people who were accused of selling or buying computer discs of the photos. One man was detained for posting photos online.
People who circulate material deemed pornographic can be sentenced to up to 15 days' detention, even if they do so "without the purpose of making profit," Xinhua said.
In the latest case, Changshan police found 10 images on an Internet posting that had attracted more than 100,000 visitors, Xinhua said.
The photos were tracked to Xiao, who allegedly copied more than 400 images from Wang in early February, the report said.
Beijing bars the online posting of materials deemed pornographic and uses Internet filtering to try to block mainland Web surfers from seeing such images posted abroad.
In Hong Kong, police have arrested several people on suspicion of violating local laws governing obscene material in connection with the photos. Hong Kong is Chinese territory but has its own laws and a court system separate from the mainland.
