Fulham's move for Cousin collapses after FIFA refuses to sanction transfer

Fulham's attempt to sign Daniel Cousin from Rangers has collapsed after FIFA refused to sanction the transfer on Friday.
The 31-year-old striker had agreed to move to the Cottagers, but FIFA regulations forbid a player appearing for three clubs in one season. Cousin also played 20 minutes for French club Lens before moving to Rangers on Aug. 1.
"Both clubs' legal advisers agreed that there was solid ground for an appeal to FIFA and are disappointed with the decision which prevents Daniel from completing the move," Rangers chief executive Martin Bain said. "It has been a frustrating time for all the parties concerned and we are disappointed that it has taken FIFA so long to make a decision."
Fulham also expressed disappointment with the decision.
"Whilst the club respects the decision of the governing body, it is of course extremely disappointed, especially on behalf of the player, who we wish well for the future," the English Premier League team said in a statement.
