2010 World Cup communications chief Tumi Makgabo quits

The head of communications and international relations for the 2010 World Cup has quit.
The World Cup organizing committee said Friday it had accepted the resignation of Tumi Makgabo, who said she wants to focus on "other projects" without elaborating.
Makgabo was previously host of CNN's Inside Africa program and also worked at the South African Broadcast Corp.
The resignation comes in the wake of South African media reports of serious internal divisions within the organizing committee. Makgabo's colleague, Tim Modise, recently threatened to resign but changed his mind.
Preparations for the World Cup in South Africa have been plagued by concerns over stadium construction, lack of infrastructure and the high crime rate. A recent FIFA inspection team said it was happy with the progress.
FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke is due to attend a board meeting of the local organizing committee on Tuesday.
