The gentle climate during the spring season is the perfect occasion for blooming of various flowers. An abundant variety of flowers can be found in this festive season. Based on this inspiration, The Westin Taipei's Liu Yuan Shanghainese Restaurant Executive Chef Chiu You-Pin will be introducing a delicious "Gourmet Special Menu" utilizing the different flowers in bloom such as roselly flowers, roses, wild ginger flowers that is matched perfectly with fresh vegetables. The Executive Chef guarantees guests will be able to relish in an exquisitely designed spring set menu.
Welcoming Spring Season Relishing in Fresh Vegetables & Sweets
The Executive Chef has especially selected the freshest vegetables for this special gourmet menu. Guests can savor the highly recommended appetizer Fresh meat jelly with roselly flower that features a sour and sweet taste perfect to whip up your appetite. Another appetizer Cold white asparagus with sesame sauce enables diners to relish the fresh and tender asparagus mixed with sesame sauce.
The final appetizer is Cold egg roll with rose flower sauce which is prepared using rose flower sauce, alfalfa sprout, shrimps, and sesame egg rolls and will definitely tickle diner's taste buds with the fragrant smell of roses. After finishing an appetizing appetizer, take a sip of the Long Life Chinese Herbs Tea that can greatly assist in balancing the body's temperature during this cold winter season. This nutritious drink is made with ginseng, jujube, and lyceum chinensis. The next dish to be enjoyed is the Double Boiled seafood with green papaya and mushroom also known as fungus seafood pot using such ingredients as green papaya, spareribs, pig's belly, mountain Chinese Yam, clams, and northern mushrooms and stewed into a tasty soup perfect to enjoy during the spring season.
Creative dishes provide much food for thought
One of the mouthwatering dish guests will be able to take pleasure in is the Sauteed lobster with sweet peas and fresh world fair flower (ginger flower pea lobster) that uses such ingredients as wild ginger flower, pea and sauteed together with lobsters. This lobster dish provides much food for thought during the spring season as diners can taste the fresh lobsters matched world fair flower. Another favorite dish to relish is the Stir-fried beef with scallops and white asparagus (asparagus fried with ribs) where guests can enjoy the specially-made sauce made from beef and onions. Steamed fresh world fair flower with rice uses fresh wild ginger flowers cooked with golden yellow ham and is then steamed together with the wild ginger flower leaves. This dish resembles the renowned Shanghainese Vegetables Rice with ginger flower and reveals the fragrance of flowers in this dish and surely allures an inviting smell.
The widely renowned Shanghainese Steamed Dumplings
Guests are in a for treat and will be able to relish the Executive Chef's hand-made Special Shanghai Steamed Dumplings. Discover why it is one of Shanghai's most famous and widely renowned dishes. The extra-large Shanghainese dumplings is made from bamboo shoots, hind leg of pork meat, fresh shrimps and crab meat and steamed to perfection. Each bite is absolutely amazing and feel the juicy juice coming out from the steamed dumplings. The steamed pork and bamboo shoot dumplings is made from the highest grade of bamboo shoots, mushrooms and hind leg of pork meat and assures guests a memorable dining adventure. The finale of this special gourmet meal is the specially made dessert of the Executive Chef for guests to appreciate is the Sweet pear and bird's nest soup.
The Westin Taipei's Special Gourmet Meal promotion starts March 1 to April 30, 2008. The Gourmet Set Menu is priced at NT$2,000 + 10% per set.
