Bomb explodes at Socialist party office in Basque country, no injuries

A bomb exploded at the offices of Spain's ruling Socialist party in the northern Basque region after a telephone warning in the name of separatist group ETA, police said Friday. There were no injuries.
The blast came less than two weeks before Spain's general elections on March 9.
The device went off in the doorway of the office in the town of Derio at around 1 a.m. (0000 GMT) following a call in the name of ETA to ambulance services, a spokesman for Basque regional police said.
The officer, speaking on condition of anonymity in keeping with force regulations, said a witness had seen two people wearing hoods leave two plastic bags in the doorway.
Police cleared homes in the area before the blast.
The spokesman said the explosion smashed windows at the party office and nearby buildings but people were allowed to return to their homes within two hours.
ETA has killed more than 800 people since the late 1960s in a campaign of shootings and bombings. It seeks an independent Basque homeland in northern Spain and southwest France.
ETA has set off other small bombs in recent weeks.
On Saturday, a device exploded next to a television re-transmitter outside the northern Basque port city of Bilbao after a telephone warning in the name of Basque separatist group.
The group ended a unilateral cease-fire last June and has since killed two Spanish police officers and carried out several small attacks.
