Copa Libertadores: Colo Colo defeats Maracaibo 3-1, Cucata and San Jose play out scoreless draw

Chile's Colo Colo beat Maracaibo 3-1 in Copa Libertadores Group 3 on Thursday, while Colombia's Cucuta Deportivo played out a scoreless draw with San Jose of Bolivia in Group 6.
Maracaibo controlled the scoreless first half, and Colo Colo reacted with greater intensity, an effort which paid off four minutes into the new half when midfielder Gonzalo Fierro advanced from the right and with little effort tapped in a cross that found goalkeeper Juan Carlos Henao out of position.
Three minutes after being sent in, Gustavo Biscayzacu doubled the lead in the 68th. It became 3-0 in the 88th minute when Maracaibo defender Gregory Lancken tried to return the ball to the goalkeeper with a header but instead put it in the goal.
Maracaibo substitute Heiber Diaz scored two minutes into injury time.
Colo Colo shares the Group 3 lead with Mexican team Atlas with three points after three games. Argentina's Boca Juniors and Maracaibo trail with one point each.
At Cucata, Colombia, San Jose failed to capitalize on a two-man advantage in the closing minutes after the home side was reduced to nine men when Uruguayan midfielder Charles Castro was expelled in the 86th minute for dissent and Jose Amarilla followed two minutes later when the Paraguayan drew his second yellow card of the match.
Cucuta remains in second place in Group 6 with two points from two games, one point behind Chivas of Mexico. San Jose and Brazilian team Santos have one point each.
