Report: Bomb explodes at Socialist party office in Basque country, no injuries

A bomb exploded Friday in the doorway of offices of Spain's ruling Socialist party in the northern Basque region after a telephone warning in the name of the separatist group ETA, according to news reports. There were no reports of injuries.
The blast came less than two weeks before Spain's general elections on March 9. The device went off in the town of Derio around 1 a.m. (0000 GMT) after a call in the name of ETA was made to ambulance services, Spanish National Radio said.
Police managed to clear residents out of apartments and houses in the area before the blast.
ETA has killed more than 800 people since the late 1960s in a campaign of shootings and bombings. It seeks an independent Basque homeland in northern Spain and southwest France.
