US dollar mostly higher, gold mixed in European morning trading

The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning, a day after crashing to a record low against the euro. Gold was mixed.
The euro traded at US$1.5088, down from US$1.5120 late Wednesday in New York. The euro traded as high as US$1.5143 on Wednesday.

The British pound was quoted at US$1.9797, down from $1.9842.
Gold traded in London at US$957.00 per troy ounce, up from US$956.70 late Wednesday.
In Zurich, gold traded at US$953.65 bid per troy ounce, down from US$953.95.
Silver opened in London at US$19.05, down from US$19.09.
