Defense ministry reshuffles personnel posts

Lt. Gen. Yang Tien-hsiao, current commander of the Kinmen Defense Command, has been designated as head of the General Political Warfare Bureau under the Ministry of National Defense, according to a ministry statement released Wednesday.
Yang is to replace Chen Kuo-hsiang, who will be transferred to serve as a strategy adviser to the president. The personnel reshuffle will take effect March 1 and Yang will be promoted to the rank of general.
It was said that Chen's job transfer was due to his role in the bungled defense company "Taiwan Goal," even though the ministry would not confirm the rumor.
The MND said the replacement is just a normal personnel reshuffle.
Meanwhile, Yu Sy-tue, director of the Office of Military Spokesman, will be appointed to another post, with the vacancy to be filled by Chih Yu-lan, now deputy head of the office.
Chih will be the country's first female military spokesperson. Her new assignment will also take effect March 1.
