British American Tobacco PLC full-year profit rises 12 percent

British American Tobacco PLC reported Thursday that profit rose 12 percent in 2007, led by a 19 percent increase in sales of Kent cigarettes.
The company's net profit for the year was 2.13 billion pounds (euro2.8 billion; US$4.2 billion), up from 1.9 billion pounds in 2006.
Revenue rose 3 percent to 10 billion pounds (euro13.2 billion; US$19.9 billion).
The company said sales of its Kent brand grew strongly in Russia, Chile, Romania and Ukraine.
BAT shares rose 1.8 percent to 1,974 pence (euro26.10; US$39.24) on the London Stock Exchange.
