Indian shares end flat; technology firms offset Larsen & Toubro gains

Indian shares gave up most of their intraday gains to end flat Wednesday, with weak technology companies offsetting the gains made by index heavyweight Larsen & Toubro.
The Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share Sensex index rose 20 points, or 0.1 percent, at 17,826 points.
On the broader National Stock Exchange, the 50-company S&P Nifty index fell 0.03 percent to 5,268 points.
Technology shares tumbled with Satyam Computer Services Ltd. down 2.8 percent at 437 rupees, Infosys Technologies Ltd. declined 2.7 percent to 1,617 rupees and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. fell 2.2 percent to 878 rupees.
Among the major gainers Bharat Heavy Electricals rose 3.8 percent to 2,263 rupees, Larsen & Toubro rose 3.2 percent to 3,631 rupees and state-run index heavyweight Oil & Natural Gas Corp. rose 1 percent to 1,038 rupees.
