Bomb explodes at Brazil stadium
A soccer fan lost his hand after a homemade bomb thrown by rival supporters exploded at a stadium in southern Brazil.
Ivo Costa, 62, had his right hand amputated by doctors because of the injuries he sustained while watching the match between Criciuma and Avai in the Santa Catarina state championship on Sunday.
Costa, a Criciuma fan, was sitting in the grandstand when the bomb was thrown by Avai supporters from a nearby section. He picked up the bomb in an attempt to toss it away but it exploded in his hand.
Police reportedly fired rubber bullets at some of the fans in order to control the situation.
Authorities said they identified two suspects of throwing the bomb after analyzing television images but the two men were not among the buses' passengers.
Blake withdraws
James Blake withdrew from the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships on Monday, citing a sore right knee that had been bothering him for the past couple of weeks.
Blake had been seeded second in the tournament but withdrew for a second straight year because he said he felt he wouldn't be able to play a competitive match. He plans to rest for the next week or two.
