Indian shares rise, led by Reliance Energy, cement firms

Indian shares gained Tuesday with strong buying in power utility Reliance Energy and cement companies.
The Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share Sensex index moved up 156 points, or 0.9 percent, to 17,806 points.
On the broader National Stock Exchange, the 50-company S&P Nifty index rose 70 points, or 1.3 percent, to 5,270 points.
Power firm Reliance Energy Ltd. rose 4.6 percent to 1,697 rupees.
Cement company shares were also snapped up with Grasim Industries Ltd. up 5 percent at 3,043 rupees, followed by ACC Ltd. up 1.5 percent at 831 rupees and Ambuja Cements Ltd. advancing 0.7 percent to 123 rupees.
Other gainers included software company Infosys Technologies Ltd. up 3 percent at 1,662 rupees and HDFC Bank Ltd. up 2.3 percent at 1,455 rupees.
