Siemens announces job cuts of 3,800 at its corporate telecom unit

The industrial conglomerate Siemens says it is cutting 3,800 jobs worldwide as it streamlines its operations.
The company's chief financial officer, Joe Kaeser, said Tuesday that the cuts are designed to speed up the Munich-based firm's transformation from providing hardware to providing software so that it can adapt to changing markets.
The cuts at Siemens Enterprise Communications means that 2,000 German workers will lose their jobs.
