Police suspect drugs involved in fatal crash

A fatal collision between two sedan cars occurred on County Road No. 145 in the southwestern county of Yunlin early morning yesterday, killing five of the six people in the cars. Police supposedly found a package of drug and an electronic scale from one of the two cars and were looking into cause of the accident.
The police said the five-death crash happened on the Beigang Township section of the highway around two o'clock yesterday morning. A white car collided with a black car in the opposite lane, and the white car broke into two parts upon impact, causing the three men and one woman in the car to fly out of the car, the police said. All four people in the white car were killed at the crash scene, the police said.
The police suspected the white car was speeding before losing control and slamming into the black car in the opposite lane. The black car's front end was totally demolished.
The driver of the black car suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized, but a female passenger in the car died in hospital.
The police found a package of drug while combing the accident scene and suspected the drug had fallen from the white car. The police is trying to ascertain whether there was any connection between the accident and the drug and whether any of the drivers involved in the accident was driving under the influence of drugs.
