New Zealand opener Jesse Ryder sidelined after breaking barroom window

New Zealand opening batsman Jesse Ryder will be sidelined for three months after suffering a hand injury in a barroom incident early Sunday, New Zealand Cricket said.
Ryder injured the thumb and index finger on his right hand when he broke a window at a bar in the South Island city of Christchurch around 5:30 a.m.
New Zealand Cricket said Ryder, who had been celebrating New Zealand's win over England in a limited-over series, was trying to gain access to a closed toilet area when the incident occurred.
The 23-year-old batsman was expected to undergo surgery to his injured hand on Monday and faces a break of six weeks from all cricket before resuming light training. It would be three months before he could play again, NZC said.
New Zealand team manager Lindsay Crocker criticized Ryder's behavior.
"We recognize the pressure Jesse has been under through his success in the England series and he has suddenly become a high profile international player," Crocker said.
"However, this is unacceptable and we will have a serious discussion with him to ensure situations like this do not occur in the future."
Ryder had a successful limited-overs series after making his debut against England and was thought likely to be included in New Zealand's squad for the forthcoming three-test series.
