Giant boss tells biking pleasure

King Liu, chairman of Giant Inc, has recently released an adventure book "My Dream of Biking Around Taiwan," recording his unprecedented bike journey that he had completed in May 2007 at the age of 73. The book is written in his personal narrative to express his dreams and strong will.
He completed an unprecedented bike tour of Taiwan at the age of 73. His 15-day journey started in Taipei, biked counter-clockwise from west to south, returned along the eastern coastal roads, passed through Hualian, Yilan and finally arrived in Taipei. The total journey was 927 kilometers, and marks an impressive accomplishment for a 73 years-old person who has contributed greatly to the cycling industry.
"There are something in your life, if you don't do it now, you will never do it," said Chairman King Liu before his adventure, when he heard this quote from a movie Island Etude.
Chairman King Liu founded Giant Inc 35 years ago. Through hardships and with great help from his business partner Antony Lo, Giant finally established its brand status and distributed its bikes to Europe, Asia, and America. However, the ultimate dream of his life is to complete his "ride life" - biking around his homeland Taiwan.
This year in May, with an age of 73, he successfully completed the unprecedented bike journey in 15 days and he recorded it as his "the most valuable personal record in life".
The reason for King's adventure was simple: he wanted to experience this beautiful island in a way that allowed him to intimately connect with the people, places and culture, and the best way he though was on a Giant bicycle. "Driving is too careless, walking is too slow, and only through cycling can you truly experience the beauty of this island and have this once-in-a-lifetime adventure," King explained.
