Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

A somewhat stagnant weather pattern will persist in the Sea of Japan region Monday as several frontal systems pass slowly through the area.
This will result in a continuation of unsettled weather. Much of the precipitation that will fall will come in the form of snow. The heaviest snowfall will be in northern Honshu, where several centimeters of new snow will fall.
More showery weather is expected in southern Honshu and Kyushu. A cold air outbreak will continue to bring low temperatures through Mongolia, Siberia, northern China, the Yellow Sea region and the western Sea of Japan.
Slightly milder yet still cold air will move far southward into southeast China. Additional scattered showers are possible through the Ryukyu Islands and East China Sea.
Tokyo's temperatures will rise into the upper 0s C, while Shanghai will see temperatures in the mid-0s C.
Seoul's will rise, but will likely remain below 0 C.
For Australia, Tropical Cyclone Melanie will continue to run parallel to the north coast of Western Australia state without threatening to make landfall. Some showers are possible along the coast of Western Australia in the Shark Bay area. Another tropical low pressure system will bring some showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf of Carpentaria area. More coastal showers are possible in and around Brisbane.
Very hot temperatures are likely through the interior of Western Australia. Sydney's will rise into the upper 20s C, while Melbourne will see temperatures in the upper 30s C. Brisbane's will rise into the upper 20s C.
