Olympiakos beats Xanthi 2-1 in Greek league

Lomana LuaLua and Darko Kovacevic scored one goal each to help Olympiakos beat Xanthi 2-1 Saturday in the Greek league.
Tomasz Radzinski scored for the visitors and Xanthi also missed a late penalty kick.
It was the ninth win for defending champion Olympiakos which moved to the top of the standings with 31 points, one more than AEK Athens and four ahead of Panathinaikos. AEK hosts PAOK and Panathinaikos travels to Aris on Sunday.
Also Saturday, Ergotelis and Larissa drew 0-0.
Olympiakos, missing four starters from injuries or suspension, attacked from the start but it was Xanthi which missed a scoring opportunity in the 7th minute. Stavros Lambriakos shot wide from inside the area with Olympiakos goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis out of position.
In the 20th, LuaLua exploited a misunderstanding between Xanthi goalkeeper Michael Gspruning and defender Francisco Zuela to put Olympiakos ahead. It was LuaLua's fifth goal of the season.
Six minutes later, Radzinski gained a rebound from a save by Nikopolidis to make it 1-1 from close range.
Leonel Nunez failed to reach a cross by Vassilis Torossidis before Kovacevic made it 2-1 with a header in the 59th.
Nikopolidis saved a penalty kick by Giorgos Barkoglou in the 83rd.
