Spiric resumes post as Bosnian prime minister

Bosnia's Parliament reappointed Nikola Spiric as prime minister Friday, two months after he resigned to protest a proposed reform. Spiric resigned in October in protest over wide-ranging reforms to voting practices in the government and Parliament.
The changes were designed to end tactics of blocking reforms by boycotting sessions - tactics that were used by all three ethnic groups in Bosnia, but most frequently by Bosnian Serbs.
Bosnian Serb parties opposed it and threatened to have their representatives in the central government resign if the reform was imposed. Spiric, a Bosnian Serb, was the first to do so. But Bosnia's Serbs gave in and allowed the reforms to be approved by Parliament.
This solved the crisis and Spiric was put forward by his party as candidate for the prime minister's post.
