Patrick Valenzuela stripped of conditional jockey license.

Kentucky Derby winning jockey Patrick Valenzuela, whose career has been marred by a history of substance abuse and suspensions, has been stripped of his conditional jockey license after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
A notice of the termination of Valenzuela's license was issued Friday by the California Horse Racing Board.
"The board has received evidence provided by the Upland Police Department indicating Mr. Valenzuela had been arrested for being under the influence of alcohol. Consuming or being under the influence of alcohol is a violation of Mr. Valenzuela's conditional license," executive director Ingrid Fermin said in a statement.
Mike Marten, the public information officer for the board, had no further comment.
The 45-year-old jockey's conditional license ran from Nov. 14 to Dec. 31, 2008. He had been scheduled to ride in four of Friday's eight races at Santa Anita, but was taken off those mounts as well as those on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Valenzuela rode Sunday Silence to victory in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in 1989.
