Arsene Wenger eager for David Beckham's training visit

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hopes that a bit of David Beckham's talent rubs off on his young players.
Beckham will join the Arsenal squad at its training ground, which is close to his English home, to maintain his fitness before the Los Angeles Galaxy begins its season on March 29.
"He will come in January to practice with us, occasionally with the first team or the reserves," Wenger said Friday. "He can always give good advice and we will help him to keep fit. The youngsters will look up to him, of course."
Beckham is hoping to play his 100th game for England on Feb. 6 in a friendly against Switzerland, the first match for England coach Fabio Capello.
The 32-year-old midfielder's last game for the Galaxy was a friendly against the Wellington Hurricanes in New Zealand on Dec. 1.
Wenger said he once considered signing the midfielder himself, but "for years he was at Manchester United and it was impossible." He said he has long respected Beckham for his behavior on and off the field.
"I admire how strong Beckham has been mentally through his career because he went through some tough times," Wenger said. "I respect the fact that he has always loved football and he has always shown respect for his managers even when he was dropped. He didn't come out in a silly way, a spoilt way. Also, he has always delivered when it was expected of him, he has shown toughness."
