Notebook rules computer market

Notebook rules computer market

Are you going to buy a new computer? Notebooks or PC, which do you prefer? With its light weight and small size, notebooks indeed have the mobility advantage over PC. In fact, the newer models of notebooks in the market are equipped with the same level of capacity and functionality as PC, and the price have become more and more affordable. More and more consumers nowadays choose notebooks over PC when they shop for computers.
Analyst of Market Intelligence Center (MIC), Institute for Information Industry said that currently, there is little difference in price between notebooks and PC. Strictly speaking, the price gap is actually shrinking. Functionality wise, advanced PC is better for playing games. However, more and more notebooks are catching up for that type of capacity. With better mobility, it is foreseeable that notebooks will be the mainstream and replace PC.
Notebooks rule the market. It is obvious from the currently exhibiting IT Month. Major IT companies such as Acer, Asus, and HP are promoting notebooks as their main products. Even as there are PC displayed, most of them are in smaller size with all-in-one functions. Today, consumers rarely pay attention to the huge monster ma-chines.
The best evidence was the launch of Eee PC by Asus in October 2007. The thin layer, small size, light weight, and low price made it incredibly popular not only in Taiwan, but running out of stocks in North America and Europe. It was the first ever product that were so in demand that staff of Asus could just focus on supply the inventory and nothing else. Till now, 100,000 units of Eee PC are sold. Looking at a global perspective, it is estimated to have 300,000 to 400,000 units sold by the beginning of next year.
Although PC is still accounted for 60% of the market shares, the sales performance is anticipated to have negative impact as consumers favor notebooks. In 2007, notebooks have a sales performance rise of 28%, while PC only has 4%.
