The Originals/ Pat Reid (Black Lung Inner City) will be on stage at Bliss (No. 148, Sec. 4, Xin-Yi Rd. Taipei 台北信義路4段148號; Tel: 02-2702-1855; Web site: http://www.bliss-taipei.com) at 11 p.m. tonight. The Originals are a five-man cover band with a license to Rock and a permit to Roll. They play dance hits from the 80’s and Chinese pop songs from the KTV !V so they’ve got something for everyone But, The Originals are different from the well-polished cover bands you may have seen at Ziga Zaga, Brown Sugar or Brass Monkey. That’s because The Originals suck! And even if they didn’t suck, they drink so much every time they play they’re lucky if they can finish their set. Actually, you’re lucky if they finish their set. Because even though The Originals suck, their shows are totally awesome! Broken guitars. Broken ankles. Broken hearts. It’s all just another night with The Originals. http://www.myspace.com/theoriginalsrock Tickets are NT$200.
Punk, Garage, Hardcore Show will be at APA LOUNGE 808 (152, 6F, Chunghua Road, Taipei) tomorrow night. I. CONSIDER THE MEEK:Consider The Meek started out as an expat band from Taoyuan 3 years ago. Surprising everyone, they had a song released on a Fat records benefit compilation, as well as a split with Pop punk group The Queers. 6 months ago, they released their debut album “The Now Generation” that made it into PRC’s top 40. Their song “Taiwan Good, Chinese Missiles Bad”, a song telling President Hujintao to stop threatening Taiwan , has become an anthem for kids around Taiwan and has made it into the newspapers in Hong Kong and China . The Japanese punks have welcomed Consider The Meek with open arms after their “Anti-Sushi” tour in 2006. The band is planning a tour of China and Hong Kong within the next few months.II. RABBIT IS RICH: Arriving on the Taipei pub circuit last year with a gloriously blunt sound that distills powerful grunge chords through short and simple songs, Rabbit Is Rich is an echo of the garage-band revival that swept the West around the turn of the century. Guitarist and band founder Ethan Fang (方奕軒), bass player Adam Kuo (郭漢威) and drummer Roxy Lin (林志軒) rip off a bristling wall of sound with brittle guitar riffs, spiky bass lines and bouncing beats to frame Huang’s exuberantly aggressive singing and freak-rock prancing and hair-shaking. The result is one of the most electrifying bands to come out of the college rock scene in recent years. III. RANDOM: RANDOM have been circulating the scene for a long time now branding out there style of indie post punk. EVENFALL: From the depths of VANISH comes another Taiwanese foray into EMO/HARDCORE. A new band on the scene full of power and mind blowing riffs not to dissimilar to bands like ENVY or THURSDAY. Check them out!! Admissions are NT$150 pre-sale and NT$200 at the door.
