Brazil's Corinthians to sign Argentine striker Herrera

Corinthians has reached a deal to sign striker German Herrera on a one-year loan from Argentina's Gimnasia La Plata.
"Everything is set," Corinthians president Andres Sanchez told local media. "He will sign the contract as soon as he arrives from Argentina."
Financial details were not immediately disclosed.
Herrera, 24, was acquired after a request by coach Mano Menezes, who worked with the Argentine striker in Brazil's Gremio in 2006.
Corinthians was recently relegated to the Brazilian league's second division, and Herrera is the third foreign player to sign with the club for the 2008 season, along with Chilean defender Cristian Suarez and Uruguayan midfielder Alberto Martin Acosta.
Bolivian striker Juan Carlos Arce was released after playing sparingly as a starter this season.
Corinthians, Brazil's second most popular club after Flamengo, was relegated for the first time in its history after finishing 17th in the 20-team standings with only 10 wins in 38 matches.
