ZyXel listed as the Top Green firm

According to a corporate governance report of corporations in Asia provided by ACGA (Asian Corporate Governance Association) and CLSA Asia-Pacific Market, ZyXel (TSE: 2391) has prevailed in all evaluations of "Green Corporation" among 582 companies in countries of Asia. It was ranked as the number 2 in Asia with other multinational firms like HSBC Hong Kong, Sharp Japan, NEC, and Toyota, and rewarded as the number 1 in Taiwan. The report proved its efforts in green environment and the production environmental-friendly technology.
The ACGA and CLSA have jointly conducted a "Clean & Green Survey" on corporations in Asia last year, which targeted primarily on management executives regarding their awareness about environmental issues. The samples were asked questions such as whether they have paid attention to the significance of protecting the environment, whether they have responding measures towards environmental issues, and whether they have conveyed any environmental policy to investors. Zexel meets all the evaluation criteria with its "green management" and thus recognized as the top "Green Corporation".
High-level manager of this company said that, ZyXel has always devoted itself in sustainable development. It is the corporate responsibility to do something for the environment.
ZyXel has implemented strict standard in 3 environment regulations posted by EU - WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and EuP (Energy-using Products). To meet such a demanding standard, the company has established a complete "environmental friendly" assembly line, from raw material to processing, and from processing to delivery, and lastly, from utility to discard. There are 3 levels of green management.
High executive pointed out that in the early stage of the assembly line, the company designed a database system that records all the information of raw materials and parts. The information states whether these parts/materials are hazardous, energy-saving, or meet the criteria of LCA (life-cycle Assessment). The database can act as a reference for product design in the future.
Currently, the issue of carbon footprint receives global attention. The company is investing in facilities to reduce carbon emission as well as greenhouse gas.
