Two food barons compete in China

The Uni-President affiliated subsidiary company, Uni-President China Holdings Ltd, has been officially publicly listed in Hong Kong. The move is viewed as an intention for this Taiwan's food production baron to challenge Master Kong - a Taiwanese food producing firm that has already established a strong foothold in China. Since then, the battle between these 2 major Taiwanese firms has gone beyond national boundaries of Taiwan. Although Master Kong has already been familiar with the China market, Uni-President Group has demonstrated massive potential in the competition. The future is highly anticipated.
"Wait and see", said Uni-President Group CEO Jason Lin.
This "wait and see" line has indeed some ambiguous connotation, especially since the Uni-President Group has been publicly listed in Hong Kong, while facing another Taiwanese food production conglomerate Master Kong.
"I know that the general public or market analysis like to compare us - the Uni-President and the Master Kong. Although we both make instant food, we are in different profession and we are doing business differently", said CEO Lin.
Uni-President remained a low-profile attitude towards the conjectures from both the general public and media. Frankly speaking, Master Kong has already established a strong foothold in China for quite a while, especially in the instant noodle market. Nowadays, it occupies slightly more than 40% of the market shares. There is no doubt that Master Kong is way ahead of Uni-President in China market.
However, the President Group has shown market potential in terms of investment. The company holds the largest trunk of market shares in Taiwan and has established long reputation as the top food manufacturer. Since it is now officially listed in Hong Kong, the competition between Master Kong and Uni-President such as price wars is highly anticipated.
Looking at the lucrative instant noodle market in China, the Taiwan's largest food baron is going to compete with another Taiwanese food manufacturing conglomerate.
