England fined for slow over rate in final test against Sri Lanka

The England cricket team has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during its drawn test against Sri Lanka that finished Sunday.
The International Cricket Council said Monday that the fines were imposed by match referee Jeff Crowe after England was ruled to be four overs short of its target in the third and final test of the series.
Under ICC rules, players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time. The captain is fined double that amount.
England captain Michael Vaughan was fined 40 percent of his match fee, and the rest of his team was fined 20 percent.
The ICC's decision is final and binding. Sri Lanka won the series 1-0.
