AEK beats Ergotelis 4-1, takes league lead

Nikos Lymberopoulos scored two injury-time goals and AEK Athens trounced Ergotelis on the island of Crete 4-1 Sunday to climb atop the Greek league.
AEK capitalized on a goalless draw by Olympiakos at Larissa to take sole possession of first place with 30 points from 13 games. Olympiakos improved to 28, one ahead of Panathinaikos which beat OFI Crete 3-1 on goals from Vangelis Mantzios, Dimitris Salpingidis and an own-goal by Pierre Issa. Josef Nwafor scored for OFI.
Also Sunday it was: Asteras 1, Atromitos 0; Veria 1, Panionios 1 and Iraklis 0, Aris 2.
Ergotelis exploited a mistake by Austrian goalkeeper Jurgen Macho to take the lead on a goal by Perica Ognjenovic in the 18th. The Athenians equalized with a header by defender Traianos Dellas in the 29th.
The visitors besieged the Ergotelis area in the second half, retaking the lead in the 74th on a goal by Gustavo Manduca. AEK continued to attack and Lymberopoulos assured the victory with tallies in the 91st and 94th minutes.
Olympiakos started quicly, but needed until the 28th to get its only scoring chance when Predrag Djordjevic found Luciano Galletti in the area. The Argentinean midfielder dribbled past one defender but his shot hit the outside of the net.
Four minutes earlier, Larissa squandered a major chance when Galletti mistakenly gave the ball to Ibrahima Bakayoko in the Olympiakos area, but the Ivory Coast striker fumbled the ball to allow goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis to intervene.
