Pelican, SKB launch new service

The Taiwan Pelican Express and Shin Kong Bank signed the cooperation contract of wireless payment on December 21. From then on, as long as you possess any type of Shin Kong credit card, you can enjoy the convenience of using visa payment at home instead of preparing the cash that sometimes causes hassle.
According to government statistics, the online shopping scale in Taiwan is rapidly growing. In 2007, the market has reached NT$185.5 billion. It is estimated that in 2008, the market scale will rise to NT$254.7 billion. Due to the fact that online shopping is not a "face-to-face" transaction, delivery is the concern.
"We agreed to apply Sagem wireless visa machine, imported from France. The machine is the most expensive and updated in the market, but with the unchallengeable quality as well. The Sagem machine will be equipped in each of our 670 delivery trucks. That way, our delivery to consumers is safe, fast and efficient without worrying about getting forgery or robbery. Of course, consumers are the ultimate winner as they enjoy the service. Up to now, the Sagem machine is only available for Shin Kong visa cards", said Gary Huang (right), chairman of Taiwan Pelican Express.
"We invested NT$15 million to purchase the machines. We would like to provide this beneficial convenience to our card holders primarily and of course we welcome new card holders as well. From December 21, 2007 to the end of February 2008, all the card holders using this express service with wireless payment will be rendered with double of the bonus point", said Lee Tseng-chang (left), president of Shin Kong Bank.
The new service is expected to encourage higher amount of transactions for online shopping and provide a more secured express delivery service to consumers.
