Valencia overcomes goalkeeping errors for 2-2 draw at Zaragoza; Sevilla wins

David Silva and substitute Nikola Zigic scored Saturday to help Valencia overcome its goalkeeping errors and rally for a 2-2 draw at Zaragoza in the Spanish league.
Silva ran onto Joaquin Sanchez's short pass and scored in the 82nd minute with a curling shot.
Zigic headed home Javier Arizmendi's cross in the 76th for his first league goal since his euro18 million (US$26 million) transfer from Racing Santander in the summer. Arizmendi hit the post in injury time.
Earlier, Valencia coach Ronald Koeman's decision to dismiss regular goalkeeper Santiago Canizares backfired after third-choice goalkeeper Juan Luis Mora tripped Ricardo Oliveira in the 16th for a penalty that Diego Milito converted two minutes later.
The 34-year-old Mora, playing his first game since the 2005-06 season, then swiped Sergio Garcia's long cross into his own goal in the 30th.
Zaragoza appeared to have a third in the 43rd, but the referee disallowed Oliveira's header for a foul even though the Brazilian striker appeared not to have made contact with Carlos Marchena.
Valencia lacked rhythm as it continued without the three players Koeman cast out _ including Spain midfielders David Albelda and Miguel Angel Angulo _ until Zigic's score.
Koeman was ejected in the 57th for dissent.
Zaragoza improved to 21 points, while Valencia tied Racing with 26.
Elsewhere, three goals in the final 23 minutes surged Sevilla past Racing 4-1 for its third consecutive victory.
Substitute Ernesto Chevanton curled in a free kick from five meters outside the area in the 67th for the winner that gave Sevilla 23 points.
Jesus Navas and substitute Adriano scored later.
Frederic Kanoute finished off Daniel Alves' darting run in the 26th for his eighth of the season to give Sevilla the early lead, but Ezequiel Garay eluded his marker to head in a corner in the 50th to equalize. Garay would leave his team with 10 men, earning his second yellow in the 80th.
Also, Getafe followed up its advancement to the UEFA Cup round of 32 on Thursday by snapping a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory at Almeria.
Left back Lucas Licht met Manuel Del Moral's pass from the left in the 38th, putting it past Diego Alves while Ruben de la Red scored the other goal in the 86th.
Later Saturday, Sevilla can end 2007 with a season-high third consecutive win against sixth-place Racing.
On Sunday, Real Madrid can extend its lead at the top of the standings with a victory at FC Barcelona in the league's classic derby. Madrid has 38 points, four more than Barcelona. Atletico Madrid and Villarreal both have 31, while Espanyol has 30.
In Sunday's other 17th round games, it's: Atletico vs. Espanyol; Valladolid vs. Real Betis; Villarreal vs. Recreativo Huelva; Levante vs. Deportivo La Coruna; Osasuna vs. Mallorca; and Athletic Bilbao vs. Murcia.
The league then resumes after a two-week winter break on Jan. 6.
