Kenneth Perez scored twice Saturday to help defending champion PSV Eindhoven down FC Utrecht 4-1 and move atop the Dutch league standings.
The victory gave PSV 33 points, two more than Ajax. Ajax could reclaim the lead with a victory Sunday at Exelsior Rotterdam.
Third-place Feyenoord, which plays at Nijmegen Sunday, has 29. Ajax and PSV each have played one game less, along with Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar, after their clashes last weekend were postponed due to a police strike.
Perez pounced on a loose ball in the 16th minute after Utrecht goalkeeper Franck Grandel spilled Danko Lazovic's weak header.
Utrecht, winless at PSV's Philips Stadium since October 1980, equalized in the 46th when Leroy George fired a low shot from just outside the box. Lazovic's sixth goal of the season made it 2-1 before Perez scored his second with a 67th-minute shot from 20 meters. PSV substitute Danny Koevermans completed the scoring in the 85th.
Also Saturday, FC Twente beat SC Heerenveen 2-1. Blaise N'Kufo converted a 33rd-minute penalty and Romano Denneboom scored the winner in the 65th. Afonso Alves scored Heerenveen's only goal in the 40th in his return from a four-game suspension. The Brazilian missed a 19th-minute penalty.
Sparta Rotterdam's match against NAC Breda was postponed due to heavy snow.
In other games it was Willem II Tilburg 1, De Graafschap 2; and Heracles Almelo 1, FC Groningen 2.
