Ntsayi scores late equalizer to help Nancy draw 1-1 with French leader Lyon

Francis Malonga Ntsayi scored a late equalizer Saturday to help second-place Nancy hold French league leader Lyon to a 1-1 draw.
The midfielder hit a dipping volley from the edge of the penalty area in the 87th minute and the ball bounced off defender Francois Clerc's back and wrong-footed Lyon goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre.
Czech Republic striker Milan Baros had given six-time defending champion Lyon the lead in the 79th when he collected a pass from Hatem Ben Arfa and chipped the ball past Nancy goalkeeper Gennaro Bracigliano.
Vercoutre twice denied Morocco forward Youssouf Hadji in the 73rd and 76th with diving saves to his right.
"Nancy are a good team and they will continue to do well," Vercoutre told French television. "I think they will be there at the end and finish behind us at the end. At least, I hope they're behind us."
As the French league heads into its winter break, Lyon has 39 points from 19 rounds and is four points ahead of Nancy.
Also Saturday, it was: Sochaux 0, Bordeaux 1; Marseille 1, Le Mans 0; Nice 1, Valenciennes 0; Caen 2, Strasbourg 0; Lorient 2, Metz 0; and Auxerre 1, Monaco 0.
Bordeaux kept hold of third place thanks to Brazilian forward Jussie's late goal, which helped Les Girondins onto 33 points.
Caen extended its unbeaten run to six matches with its fourth straight win, with goals from midfielder Juan Manuel Eluchans and defender Cedric Hengbart, who converted a penalty kick.
The win improved Caen, which was promoted last season and expected to struggle, to fourth place with 31 points. Le Mans is a point behind in fifth, and Valenciennes is sixth with 29 points.
Sammy Traore's second-half goal was enough for Auxerre; Rafik Saifi's eighth goal of the season and another from Nicolas Marin sealed Lorient's win against last-place Metz; and midfielder David Hellebuyck got Nice's winner against Valenciennes.
At Marseille, Samir Nasri's fifth assist of the season set up Mamadou Niang for his 10th league goal this season.
In Sunday's games, Toulouse faces Rennes, and struggling Paris Saint-Germain plays at Saint-Etienne. Lille's game at Lens was called off because of a frozen pitch.
