India will go into the first cricket test against Australia under-prepared after rain washed out the third day of their warmup match against Victoria state at the Junction Oval on Saturday.
Only 48 overs were bowled over the three days of the match _ 38 on the first day, 10 on the second and none Saturday when umpires Paul Reiffel and John Ward abandoned play without a ball being bowled.
Steady rain overnight, falling on an already saturated outfield, left the umpires with little choice.
India remained 133 for four with Rahul Dravid 38 not out. Sourav Ganguly earlier made 59.
The tourists will continue to practice indoors for the first test of their four-test series against Australia, which starts at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Dec. 26.
